Happy Monday! April 26

It's Doernbecher Week here at Mountain View -- how will you help dreams come true?

Have you chosen your electives yet?  Do you like working with computers and want to learn more about technology?  Consider the "Technology and Media Literacy" elective next year!  It's a brand new class designed to look more closely at what we can do with modern technology.  You will learn some very useful skills, too, like how to type quickly, how computers work, how to edit photos and videos, and how to create in some very nifty ways.  Interested?  Every student will get to use a Netbook while in class, so it's very hands-on and real.
Math Magic!
Cards, cards, and more cards.  Some great math lies behind most card magic.  See if you can figure out how this trick works.

In Class:

Assignment:
Complete these three problems tonight. That's it -- only 3 -- but use a model to help you show your thinking.
1. A new CD costs $15 but is 10% off. What is the sale price?
2. One class has 24 students, and 25% of them are left-handed. How many students are right-handed?
3. You are with your parents shopping at a clearance sale at Fred Meyer's. They want to purchase a new comfy, cozy chair for the living room. It costs $800, but it's 60% off. What is the sale price of the chair?
