Math at the Grocery Store
Estimating is "big time" math that we use in the real world. Think about shopping -- grocery, gift, clothes -- you probably have a budget to stick by (or your parents do!). The next time you go grocery shopping, try to keep an estimate of the price of everything you buy so you know about what you'll be charged at the cash register. Remember the golden rule of mental math.... By the way, bring in a list of 10 items you've bought that compares your estimated cost with the actual cost for some EXTRA CREDIT! (Just like we did in class...and you can use the receipt to get the actual costs.) Have fun!
