The Byerley family has grown by two feet! Lydia Grace Byerley was born by C-Section Monday, June 6, at 11:48am. It was a long anticipated arrival, and things went very smoothly. We went in for pre-op about 8:30am, and 3 hours later -- pop -- there she was! It was kind of surreal to know that it was just going to happen that morning. It's not every day you wake up and realize your life will be changed forever.
Lydia was 8 pounds 5 ounces, though every doctor, nurse, and staff member thought she weighed more. (We thought they might have been remembering Eliana who was a hefty 1.5 pounds more.) They used 3 different scales before marking it officially. She was also 20.75" long, only 0.25" shy of her big sister. She is an absolutely beautiful baby.
Dad was able to cut the umbilical cord, which was something that he didn't get to do for Eliana. That was a very cool experience! From there, it was about an hour of watching her get used to this new world while Mama got stitched back together. There is nothing in life more precious than holding your newborn baby.
A huge highlight was watching Eliana get to see her little sis for the first time. I picked her up from GE (child care) and we drove back to the hospital about 4:30. As we drove, shouts of "Where my baby sister?!?" and "Where Ly-dee-ah?" got louder and louder. When we finally got into the room, she went straight for Lydia and said, "I want hold my baby sister!" It was amazing. She was so gentle -- she just sat there, staring at her sister. "What your name, Lydia?" "Why you no talking?" "You shy?" 
What an incredible day.
